Free Ration Deadline: Complete e-KYC Before 10 August or Lose Benefits

The government has started the free ration distribution process in Balrampur district for Antyodaya and Eligible Household (PHH) ration card holders. This scheme will run from 20 July to 10 August, offering free food grains to millions of beneficiaries. Antyodaya cardholders will receive 35 kg of grains, while PHH cardholders will get 5 kg per unit, including fortified rice and wheat.

e-KYC Is Now Mandatory for All Family Members

To receive the free ration, e-KYC is compulsory for every family member listed on the ration card. If e-KYC is not completed, the units of unverified members will be cut from the card, resulting in reduced ration for the household. The government has emphasized that this is a strict requirement for ensuring transparency and avoiding misuse.

What Happens If e-KYC Is Not Done?

As per the District Supply Officer, Kumar Nirmalendu, if any member’s e-KYC is not available during ration distribution, it will be assumed that the family does not want free ration in the future. Their unit will be immediately removed from the records. However, on 10 August, if Aadhaar-based authentication fails, beneficiaries can verify via mobile OTP.

Current Status of e-KYC Completion

Out of 15,65,483 total units in the district, only 13,13,653 units (83.91%) have completed e-KYC so far. This leaves a large number of units still pending, and they risk losing access to free ration if not updated before the deadline.

How to File Complaints or Get Help

If anyone faces problems during the distribution process, they can contact the toll-free number 18001800150 for help. All fair price shopkeepers have also been strictly instructed to follow a transparent and timely system. Any complaint of fingerprint verification without actual ration delivery will lead to strict legal action.

Final Reminder: Complete e-KYC Before 10 August

All beneficiaries are strongly advised to complete their e-KYC before 10 August to avoid unit removal and continue receiving their free ration benefits without interruption.
