Big Change in Aadhaar Rules: UIDAI, the authority responsible for Aadhaar, has announced a strict move to stop fraud and misuse. Now, people will not be allowed to make repeated changes in their date of birth or fingerprint data. UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar confirmed this major update and explained the reason behind it.
Why the New Rule Was Needed
Many people misuse the Aadhaar update option by changing their date of birth multiple times. This is often done to get unfair advantages like applying for government jobs or sports teams. To stop this kind of fraud, UIDAI has decided to restrict repeated changes.
Date of Birth Change Will Now Require Original Proof
As per the new rule, if someone wants to change their date of birth in Aadhaar, they must first update it in their original birth certificate. UIDAI will not accept a second birth certificate as proof. This rule is aimed at stopping the use of multiple documents for personal gain.
UIDAI Will Verify Data with Government Departments
To make Aadhaar more secure, UIDAI is now linked with the databases of 35 states. It will also verify documents like PAN cards, CBSE mark sheets, and MGNREGA records to ensure they are real. This cross-verification will help catch fake or duplicate entries.
Use of AI and New Technology to Detect Fraud
UIDAI is now using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) tools to detect fake fingerprints. New cameras can also estimate a person’s age, which helps verify identity, especially for children whose biometrics are not taken. Photos will also be matched with the Bureau of Immigration to prevent identity theft.
Fingerprint Updates Will Be Limited
Frequent fingerprint updates will not be allowed, especially for younger people. However, older people who may have changing fingerprints over time will still be allowed to update them when needed.
Aadhaar Update Process Going Fully Online
UIDAI is also working on making the entire Aadhaar update process digital. Only documents that can be verified online by the state will be accepted. This move will reduce paperwork and prevent submission of fake documents.
Final Words
These new rules by UIDAI are a big step toward making Aadhaar safer and fraud-proof. It will now be more difficult to misuse Aadhaar for personal gain, ensuring benefits go to the right people.
